FISHING WITH BAILEY ON THE SOUTH PLATTE RIVER NEAR MY HOME

Meet the artist

Born in rural Michigan in 1971, I started painting and drawing as a child.  Art was a family pastime. I entered and won awards in local competitions and helped finance college with pen and ink greeting cards of my hometown’s historic landmarks.

The topics of my work are inspired by a love of outdoor activities including hiking, rock climbing, backcountry skiing and fly fishing. I have been fortunate to visit many amazing places in pursuit of these activities.

My artistic inspiration comes from the water colors of Winslow Homer, John Singer Sargent, and California painter, Franz Bischoff.  I currently follow the work of numerous plein air painters.

I graduated from Michigan State University and specialized in operations leadership.  I have now retired from my career in industry to pursue painting full time.  My passion lies in the outdoors and creating impressions of my experiences through my art.

My wife and I reside in Pagosa Springs, Colorado and spend our free time traveling, fishing, and skiing around the state with our dog, Bailey.
